Here is a list of services that are provided by the municipality or some support ground.
Garbage and Recycling

The community household waste bins are located at #8 Front Street. This is where you can bring your typical household waste to the bins at any time. The bins are owned by the Summer Village of White Sands and the municipality is a member of the Stettler Regional Waste Management Authority (SRWMA). The municipality has a requisition fee that covers the pick-up and delivery of the items in the bins to the Stettler Regional Landfill and for the use of residents to use the landfill at free of charge!
Please note the bins are for HOUSEHOLD WASTE ONLY. Household waste is everyday waste materials that is generated by a household that results from daily living activities and are discarded to the trash bin. An example of these waste material are:
A cardboard recycle bin is supplied just outside the dumpster area. Please flatten your cardboard boxes and place them in the cardboard bin to be recycled.
We also have a Diabetes Donation Bin for non-breakable items. Simply put your items in a plastic bag and deposit them in the chute. We thank you for being environmentally aware and using the recycle bins.
The White Sands Hall Society provide the Take-it-and-Leave-it and the Bottle Donation Sheds. If you wish to donate your empty bottles and cans there is a bin by the community household waste bins. A group of volunteers from the society sort the bottles and cans, which are then picked up by the Bottle Depot. The monies received from the Bottle Depot are then given to the Hall Society who manages these revenues. The money is used to fund social functions such as a Canada Day Celebration and a Fall Wind Up Barbecue. Food is supplied at no cost to the residents. The Hall Society has also contributed to the costs for benches and picnic tables along the beaches and flower beds throughout the community. Your donation of bottles is put to good use within the community. Beside the Bottle sorting shed is the Take-it-and-Leave-it Shed, where you can leave household items you no longer need or pick up items you can use. The shed is always open. Donations can include dishes, games, books, toys, life jackets, etc. Anything that is in re-useable condition. We ask that you do NOT leave linens and clothing – these should be placed in the Diabetes Donation box outside the Take It or Leave It Shed.
Please do NOT leave broken furniture & appliances, TV’s, computers, printers, lawn mowers, BBQ’s, mattresses. You must dispose of these at the landfill.

Water-Fill Station
The Summer Village of White Sands is a member of the Shirley McClellan Regional Water Services Commission (SMRWSC). The County of Stettler administers the commission and is responsible for its operations. Please visit the following link for more information on how to apply for the PIN Payment Account for the water station. The fill station also takes coin, but from time-to-time during the high season the machine has mechanical issues mostly due to it being too full. Please avoid banging on the box because the vibrations will loosen wires in the circuit board. If there is an issue with the bulk water station, please contact 403-742-4441 for assistance. After hours, dial 6 to be transferred to our after-hours answering service.
Stettler Public Library Programs
The Summer Village is a member of the Parkland Regional Library Board. Stettler Public Library is our closest library in this board and we have been recently been working with the library to bring events and courses to our community. Some events that have happened are Come for a Byte (learning about technology and safety on the internet) and a Summer Reading Program which is every Wednesday from July to August. This program is great for kids 5+ and is located at the White Sands Hall.
