Notice of Election

Elector Eligibility to Vote
Summer Village of White Sands
​

For those who call the Summer Village of White Sands their permanent residence, eligibility to vote is in accordance with section 47(1) of the Local Authorities Election Act:
A person is eligible to vote at an election if the person:
  1. is at least 18 years old,
  2. is a Canadian citizen, and
  3. resides in Alberta and the person’s place of residence is located in the local jurisdiction on election day.
 
For those who own property in the Summer Village of White Sands and this property is not their full-time residence, eligibility to vote is in accordance with section 12 (b) of the Local Authorities Election Act:
A person is entitled to vote at an election if
  1. the person is eligible to vote under section 47, (above)
  2. the person is 18, a Canadian citizen and is named on a certificate of title as the person who owns property within the summer village, or
  3. the person is 18, a Canadian citizen and is the spouse or adult interdependent partner of a person referred to in subclause (ii)

Voter Identification

Identification will be required in order to vote in accordance with Section 53 of the Local Authorities Election Act:
 
Identification must be:
  • a document that has your name and Summer Village address on it (utility bill or tax notice)
  • an Alberta driver’s license or in lieu of a driver’s license - one piece of identification issued by a Canadian government, whether federal, provincial or local, or an agency of that government, that contains a photograph of the person, the person’s name and the address of the person’s residence within the summer village
